Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Why would an educational institution become a Contributor? Since Kuali Student will be available under an open source license, why not wait and download the system when it’s finished?
Becoming a Contributor gives you a direct voice in the design and development of the system. It provides an opportunity to influence the future of student systems in ways that reflect your institution’s vision and values. It also contributes to the success of the project for the benefit of the broader higher education community.
Is it still possible for an institution to participate as a Founder or a Partner?
We are open to discussing opportunities with any institution that would like to make a significant contribution.
As a commercial vendor, can I participate in Kuali Student?
Yes, the Kuali Commercial Affiliates Program has been established to encourage commercial participation in implementation and support activities.
Is there a sufficiently diverse group of Founders and Partners to deliver on the plans to offer support for a wide range of institutions in different countries?
Each of our participating institutions is seeking input from a variety of departments and teams within their own campus. In addition, feedback sessions from Contributors will test the designs and gather fresh input. Contributor groups will include established special interest groups like NITLE, as well as institutions in other countries.
After Kuali Student is released, how will it be maintained and enhanced?
It is our goal that Kuali Student will be maintained and enhanced by the community: the Founders, the Partners, the Contributors, and the vendor community who are participating through the Kuali Commercial Affiliates Program. Together, we will ensure a sustainable future for Kuali Student.
